Three Ways To Share Your Story & Your Support
Record your abortion story, share on social media using the hashtag #WhateverTheReason, or submit one in writing
Abortion is a deeply personal and sometimes complex decision. Politicians shouldn’t be making decisions about your body for you. But that hasn’t stopped them from trying. And now, the courts have failed us.
WHO SHOULD SHARE THEIR STORY?
If you care about abortion, you have a story to share. If you've had an abortion, been a patient escort, driven a loved one to an appointment, lent money to someone for an abortion, provided child care during a friend's appointment, or supported a loved one through their abortion in other ways, that's a story. You can also share why you advocate for abortion access in general, and as we all know: this is about more than abortion. This is the moment to inspire each other and remind people that have had abortions and who will get abortions that their decision is valid — #WhateverTheReason.
1. RECORD YOUR STORY
Sharing your abortion story via video can be intimidating, but we're here to help you. You can use the link above to record your video and will get step-by-step prompts on how to do it. Don't be afraid to take your time, to try multiple takes, and check out some of our resources:
- Tips for Preparing and Recording Your Story
- And you can watch other stories on our homepage ( like this one)
2. SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
If you need some inspo, you can find graphics and share links in our digital swag kit.
When you share your story on social media, use the hashtag #WhateverTheReason — because there are no "bad" reasons to get an abortion. Nearly one in four women (statistic from non-disaggregated data) in America will have an abortion by age 45. Every day, people across the country make their own decisions about their pregnancies for reasons that are deeply personal. Politics has no place in these decisions, and all of their stories deserve respect.
3. SUBMIT YOUR STORY IN WRITING
A final way to share your story: submit one in writing.
And don't forget: when you see others sharing their stories, send them affirmation and love. We're all in this together.
